Shawn McQueen-Ruggeiro is a seasoned development professional with more than 30 years of leadership experience in the nonprofit sector. Her expertise includes building efficiencies and systems for effectiveness and the unique ability to turn organizational visions into action by creating strategic plans which are supported by systems and a corporate culture to achieve goals.
A California native, Ms. McQueen-Ruggeiro was born and raised in Santa Barbara, CA and received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She also holds a certificate in fundraising from University of California, Los Angeles. She continues to build her leadership and management skills and is currently an EMBA candidate in the Säid Business School at the University of Oxford and a student at Lady Margaret Hall College.
Shawn has been addressing food insecurity in the developing world for more than a decade. Her passion for solving food insecurity is not limited to her international work and is one of the reasons why she became interested in the mission of the Solana Center. As a mother of two, she is a believer in advocating for the health of our shared world on behalf of our children's future.
