Join Solana Center for this presentation where you will learn the basics of traditional composting using an aerated static pile (ASP) bin. ASPs don't require turning. This is a very hands-on workshop! Dress to get dirty! Registration is limited.

In the first half of the workshop, we'll present on:

  • What is composting and why it is so important
  • Key components of successful composting
  • Which items are compostable and which are not
  • Harvesting and using your compost

In the second half of the workshop, we'll:

  • Harvest, sift and integrate finished compost from a 6.2 cu yd hexagonal ASP bin
  • Time permitting, re-build the ASP using an array of materials from this working farm
