"Shoo, Fly, Shoo!" Fly Control for Livestock Owners - County of San Diego

Registration is closed for this event
Join Solana Center for this 1-hour webinar to learn strategies for combating pesky flies around livestock, with a focus on effective manure management.

Flies can deliver painful bites. They irritate and stress livestock, and can transmit diseases, potentially creating serious health issues for your animals. In this 1-hour webinar, we will discuss an array of strategies you can use to control flies on your property, including the important role of manure management. We will be joined by guest speaker, Nancy Reigler, owner of Ramona's Oasis Camel Dairy, who will explain her approach to reducing flies among her camels and other livestock.

This webinar will be held using Zoom, so please note that you will need to have the Zoom application installed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) to attend and participate. You will receive an email with the link and password to join on the day before the webinar occurs.

A recording of the webinar will be available to unincorporated County residents only for 7 days after the webinar occurs.

In this webinar, we will cover the following topics:

  • The importance of controlling flies around livestock
  • Using a multi-pronged approach: biological, chemical, and physical
  • Using predators, traps, and sprays
  • The role of effective manure management in fly control
