Free Traditional Compost & Intro to Worms Workshop - Balboa Park

Are you wild about compost? Improve the quality of your soil, reduce waste and air pollution, while saving energy, money, and water by learning how to compost! Space is limited. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

Join Solana Center for this 2-hour presentation where you will learn the basics of backyard composting and vermicomposting (composting with worms) at the San Diego Zoo! Using trial-tested advice and interactive demonstrations, our expert educator will teach you all you need to know to get started with a bin that fits your needs and lifestyle.

Please note: You will not have to pay to enter the Zoo for the workshop, but you will not be given access to the Zoo exhibits. Free parking is available in the main Zoo parking lot.

We will cover the following topics:

- What is composting and why it is so important
- What tools and materials you'll need
- Which items are compostable and which are not
- Harvesting and using your compost
