August Build and Beautify, a Volunteer day at the Center

On the second Tuesday of every month, Build and Beautify is a day for volunteers to get involved with our programs from our home base.

Solana Center Garden

Support Solana Center programs from the ground up! Build and Beautify is a monthly volunteer day for volunteers to get involved with our programs from home base. Activities vary, from playing in our demonstration worm bins, to beautifying our grounds with your own artistic contributions. Keeping our grounds functioning and looking good helps us engage our visitors with sustainability education and is vital to our ability to impact the community.

On the second Tuesday of every month from 9 AM to 11 AM, we welcome you to join us at the Center for nourishing activities and good company. All ages and abilities welcome.

August's Build and Beautify Activity:

  • Harvest and re-make our travel sized educational worm bins. We work hard to keep these bins active and healthy so we can use them as demonstrations to teach students, families and community members around the County about composting with worms.
  • Gathering material to be chipped for a new compost demonstration site. Chipping organic materials greatly expands what people can compost right at home. Solana Center is working on a class all about chipping and its game changing effects on home composting, but first we have to do it ourselves! Help us kick this program off by stockpiling chippable organic materials from around our property.
