Our annual volunteer appreciation event, Toast to Compost, was held at the Infield Farm of the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Over 50 guests, volunteers and staff members gathered in our new outdoor classroom in front of Solana Center's Eco Container to celebrate all the hard work and amazing dedication our volunteers have given this year.
We celebrated with a delicious taco bar lunch made possible by a donation from JIMBO'S Naturally and appetizers donated by Native Foods Cafe. Guest speaker Cindy Sparks, of the Master Gardener Association of San Diego County gave a presentation on earth-friendly gardening and awards were given to eight outstanding volunteers for their above and beyond contributions with gifts generously donated by eight different local companies.
We would like to extend a special thank you to our many donors who helped make this event so wonderful, and a big thank you to our Events Intern, Itsi Sanchez-rea, who helped create the event's whimsical ambiance and logistical excellence. And, of course, the biggest of thank you's to our amazing volunteers who make our programs possible! Hope to celebrate with you again next year!
