School lunch waste sorting with Diane Hazard and student
Assist one of our Solana Center educators in growing children's relationship with the natural world by stimulating their curiosity in living things, empowering them to take care of their planet, and perhaps most importantly, by having FUN in nature. Geared toward children aged 2-5, this program is developed and lead by our expert educators to nurture a child’s appreciation of the world around them. 
This month’s theme is "Weather It Together" with activities including:
  • Story Time: Will It Rain?
  • Craft: Make Your Own Rain Stick
  • Rain Dance Party
  • Weather Walk

At this event you will assist with:

  • Setting up our program area (tables, chairs, props, etc)
  • Sharing props and visuals
  • Assisting with child engagement and management
  • Cultivate a fun outdoor learning environment
  • Packing up our presentation supplies

Volunteer Qualifications:

  • Must be comfortable interacting with large groups of children
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Basic knowledge of composting preferred or ability to learn quickly
  • Experience or interest in engagin children ages 2-5
