  • Setting up / breaking down demo site
  • Advancing PowerPoint slides or flipping our educational chart
  • Engaging students in activities related to the lesson

Volunteer Shifts

  • 8:00 am to 12:00 pm (2 volunteers)

Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes (PLEASE READ)

  • Attire: Wear clothes that are comfortable for standing in and appropriate to the weather and school location.

  • Bring: Reusable water bottle, snacks for break-time.

  • Experience Needed: Volunteers should have some vermicomposting experience or be a Master Composter student/graduate. Volunteers must have a passion for talking about sustainable topics, especially with youth.

  • Age Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Physical Requirements: Must be willing to do hands-on work with worms and other compost critters and able to lift up to 20 pounds.

  • Safety: All participants must sign an additional COVID-19 volunteer waiver BEFORE EVENT DAY (this will be sent in an info email 1-4 days before the event). All volunteers must bring to their volunteer shift the day of the event either: proof of vaccination, either through your issued vaccination card or through California’s Digital Covid-19 Vaccine Record, or proof of a negative PCR test (only PCR tests will be accepted) taken within 7 days of the event.

  • Other: Please arrive on time, as it disrupts the flow of this event. If you’re schedule changes, please let the volunteer coordinator know as soon as possible – we depend on volunteer help for a successful event and no-shows put stress on our team.
