Raising Backyard Chickens Workshop – Bates Nut Farm

Solana Center’s experienced educators will teach you the basics of how to raise chickens at home.

There are so many benefits of having your own flock, including:

• Helping keep food waste out of the landfill
• Protecting your garden from pests 
• Natural soil amendments
• Fun! Chickens make great pets with distinct personalities

All pre-registered attendees who are residents of unincorporated San Diego County can receive a FREE kitchen scraps container, courtesy of the County of San Diego.

• Local regulations for keeping backyard chickens
• Basic requirements for making a chicken coop
• Feeding and care to keep hens healthy and happy
• Local and online resources
