With the rollout of curbside green recycling bins we have seen a steady participation decline and continuing the program is no longer sustainable for our organization.

The final month of the Food Cycle program will be November 2023. All active participants will receive their November recurring payment with all recurring payments canceled from December onward.

You may keep your bucket at no additional cost. You may continue to purchase bokashi bran from our store for a modest price.

Buckets can be dropped off on Thursdays from 12:00 - 5:00 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. The last day we will accept buckets will be Saturday, Dec. 2. (Please note the store will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23, and Saturday, Nov. 25 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.)

You can keep your bucket and continue to bokashi your food scraps at home.

• Your bokashi-ed materials can be added to a traditional compost pile, worm bin, or be applied in your garden.
• You can easily trench your bokashi-ed food scraps into your yard or garden by digging a hole about 12 inches deep outside the drip line of the tree and adding about 4-6 inches of compostable materials.
• You also have the option to place your food scraps in the green bin with your yard waste depending on your waste hauler's services. Buckets with lids such as the ones used for Food Cycle are fantastic for storing materials until pickup day.

Most families of four bring in a bucket once per month

ANY organic material. This includes meat, bones, dairy, fruits, and vegetables.

Yes, bokashi bran will ferment the food waste which preserves it until we are ready to compost it.

Yes, you can add paper towels even if they are bleached. However, the goal of this program is to reduce food waste more than paper waste.

Yes, moldy food is A-okay. It has already started its decomposition process.

Yes, you can add any meat, bones, and animal products freely.

Compost will not be available to Food Cycle participants after the program ends in November 2023.
