Event Support Volunteer: Rain Barrel Distribution – San Diego

Event  Description: Discounted Rain Barrel Distribution   City of San Diego residents who have pre-purchased rain barrels at a special discounted price will be coming to pick them up, as well as receive education in water conservation and rain water harvesting.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

• Help with set up of event site, including unloading and staging rain barrels

• Assist customers with loading rain barrels into their vehicles 

• Assisting staff with other tasks as needed

Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes:

• Physical Requirements: MUST be able to comfortably lift up to 20 pounds comfortably.  This shift will involve repeatedly lifting rain barrels, both to stage them at the start of the event, and to load them into customers' vehicles.

• Attire: Please wear comfortable clothes suitable for standing, considering the weather and event location.

• Bring: Don't forget to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated, and feel free to pack snacks for break time.

• Experience Needed: Previous attendance at one volunteer event with Solana Center is preferred, but not required

• Age Requirements: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

• Your volunteer hours are recorded in our database.  Upon request, we will include your travel time in those hours.  Simply send an email to volunteer@solanacenter.org to let our volunteer coordinator know what your drive time is.
