Composting Success Story: Melody Plan
In August, local families gathered for story time and Q&A, a live worm demo, and a self-guided Green Living Tour at Solana Center, celebrating the release of Master Composter Melody Sumaoang Plan’s debut children’s book, Inside the Compost Bin.
Inside the Compost Bin teaches children ages five to eleven how to build and tend a compost bin, exploring the biological and chemical processes that make composting possible through vivid language and color illustrations.
Hear more from Melody in this video sharing how the experience of learning about composting in our Master Composter course and volunteering with Solana Center has helped her find her passion for sharing these life-changing sustainable practices. Despite Melody moving from San Diego to Hawaii, we are so grateful she has remained connected with the organization and continues to volunteer remotely to inspire and share her knowledge with others.
The event was such a success that we immediately sold out of our stock of books during the event, but are pleased to say they are restocked in Solana Center’s sustainability store. Order your copy today, they make great gifts for the young earth stewards in your life!
